IN/ARCH Istituto Nazionale di Architettura

Founded by Bruno Zevi in 1959, IN/ARCH Istituto Nazionale di Architettura is aimed at promoting and coordinating studies on architecture, conveying its principles, and promoting its implementation through a combination of the country’s economic and cultural forces involved in the building process, as well as at arousing the interest of the target community of architectural production by means of an on-going and direct action.
Since the foundation, Bruno Zevi has been involving all the parties that have an interest in the architectural process, in the quality of urban spaces and, more generally, in habitat transformation. His intention was to arouse general awareness of the ethical and economic value of high-quality architecture and to develop the consciousness that architecture is a way to represent the country: acknowledging its manufacturing power is a way to figure out the future. As a technical and cultural institution, IN/ARCH cooperates with public central and peripheral administrations to study architectural issues, is in charge of relations with similar Italian and foreign organizations, and cooperates with the Italian Section of the International Union of Architects.
IN/ARCH organizes and promotes exhibitions on architecture, art in general, and building materials, debates and cultural meetings, research centres, think tanks, awards, publications, radio and TV shows, movies, and whatever can be useful to approach architectural issues.
IN/ARCH is acknowledged by the Ministry of Education as a Special Scientific Institute in accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 623 of October 8, 1996.
