00 Architecture

00 Architecture is a collaborative design studio of architects, programmers, technologists, social scientists and urban designers practicing design beyond its traditional borders. We work with individuals, governments, corporations and communities to solve problems and anticipate change, and to design successful platforms and places. Our aim is to reach beyond the design of objects themselves to the social, economic and environmental systems behind them. Our office brings together skills in action-led research, urban design strategy, architecture and coalition-building with a detailed understanding of how the physical fabric of buildings can be accompanied by innovative, engaging and collaborative processes. Alongside award-winning research and built projects, our conceptual work investigating the role of citizens in making cities and institutions has continued to gain recognition in recent years, in particular with our publication The Compendium for the Civic Economy, published with Nesta, and A Right to Build, on the topic of housing design, economics and custom build processes winning the Riba President’s Medal for Research in 2012.
