Maier Landschaftsarchitektur (Maier Landscape Architecture) are landscape architects from Cologne, Germany who specialize in the design of bike and skate parks under the name Betonlandschaften (concrete landscapes). Apart from various parks in Germany, some skate facilities have already been implemented in other countries – often in collaboration with skate-aid, a non-profit association from Muenster, Germany. Skate-aid organizes that manpower, skateboards and skate teachers among other things.
Our philosophy is to treat skate parks as something very individual. Each locale skate scene has its own demands and ideas. Every place has its own spirit (genius loci) which should be recognised. Topography, culture and history on the one hand and youth culture on the other hand are important cornerstones for the design of a future skate park. Skating has long outgrown the stage of fashion sport. Skating is considered an important element in the personal development of children and youth and can thereby be used very well in development aid for children and youth.
