Faena: an exceptional location
Faena in Miami Beach is synonymous with culture, fun and glamour.
It is a clear indication of a cultural revival and relocation.
The work of the visionary Argentine businessman Alan Faena, the complex that bears his name occupies an entire block on Collins Avenue, featuring the Faena Hotel, Casa Faena, the Faena Forum, Faena Bazaar and the Faena Penthouse Residences.
The programme undertaken by Alan Faena and the director of Faena Art Ximena Caminos is the real story behind the Faena project, an authentic project of artistic redevelopment.
The Archmarathon event will be held in two main locations. These are:
– the Faena Hotel which will offer accommodation for the 42 architects selected by the Jury and which is a timeless gem, a magical place in which to spend precious moments sipping a Pina Colada while contemplating a Damien Hirst.
– the Faena Forum which will host the event itself including Lectures by the participating Studios and business meetings with the Sponsor companies.
The Forum is a Miami beach landmark. Designed by Rem Koolhaas’ OMA studio and followed by project leader Shohei Shigematsu, the Forum offers 8 flexible spaces that serve as the perfect setting for entertainment, art and business events. The forum spaces, enhanced by Graciela Hasper’s site-specific murals, have been designed by Alan Faena and Ximena Caminos to be an “alchemical laboratory” where artists and innovators can feel free to play, dream, and create.
What better place to host the Archmarathon Awards, the showcase presenting the best of architecture created in the Americas in the last two years?
“We will put all the best minds in the world to work to create a Utopian place”
