Hembert Penaranda was born in Bogotá in Colombia on 31 July 1968 and graduated in Architecture in 1994 from the University of Genoa.
It was in Genoa that he began his professional career in the studio of Renzo Piano with whom he worked for several years. His collaborations ranged from Germany to Monaco with studios such as Smith, Stumf, Fruhauf and Partner as well as with the Studio Mario Cucinella of Paris.
In 2000 he established the studio of architecture “Hembert Penaranda Officina Architetti” in Genoa.
Between 2001 and 2010, he taught at the University of Genoa as lecturer of the Building Construction Course. For several years, he has also been the Thesis Chairman at Domus Academy in Milan.
From 2002 to 2007 he was director of Chapman-Taylor Architetti in Milan. At present, his time is devoted to his studio Officina Architetti and its various offices based in both Italy and Colombia.
The firm specializes in urban planning, landscape, public spaces as well as retail, commercial and residential architecture, exhibition and interior design. The design team includes over 30 architects and designers from different countries.
