This was a full interior architecture and design renovation with complete gut intervention of a penthouse apartment in Sunny Isles, FL. The original layout was challenged due to the building’s curved shape. As a result, the sense of space was odd and poorly defined.
The owners let us approach the project in a contemporary style, allowing us to create and custom elements such as the “Infinite Hat” Mirror/chandelier, privacy screens in metal.
We created a bedroom from an old office, and moved/redesigned the entire kitchen, redistributing the layout to give more space for the living area. A cozy breakfast room and custom-designed island table welcome guests from the dining room to the kitchen, via a custom bar that frames the entrance.
The master bedroom was re-proportioned to create a small office with living room access. All woodwork and millwork was custom-made, including wood paneling and privacy doors. The master area was completely gutted and turned into a master suite. The closet and bathroom became one space, creating a spa suite with vanity, freestanding tub, steam shower, restroom, and closet. By removing the original closet wall, a window now floods the area with natural light. The wall treatment around the window echoes the ocean view.
Technology innovation is also part of the project. The penthouse is now fully automated, with smart tech for lights, drapes, surround sound, and A/C.
