Unveiled the ARCHMARATHON Awards Miami 2019 Main Jury
In preparation for the event to be held from 7th to 9th November 2019, the Jury of ARCHMARATHON is selecting the participant projects from a total of over 300 spontaneous applications, which have come through the open call ended last 30th June.
The Main Jury also has the task of independently proposing a selection of projects, and participating in the speech assessment during the Archmarathon Awards Miami 2019.
The Jury is composed by:
Luca Molinari – Honorary President of the ARCHMARATHON Jury
Architect, critic and associate professor of Contemporary History and Theory of Architecture at SUN (Seconda Università degli Studi, Naples) and at Cornell University College of Architecture, Art, and Planning in Rome.
He writes as independent critic for Italian and international newspapers and magazines, such as: Corriere della Sera, La Stampa, L’Espresso, AD, Domus, Lotus, Abitare, Ottagono, Il progetto, Archis, L’architecture d’aujourd’hui and A+U and he’s the Editorial Director of PLATFORM architecture and design.
David Basulto – Founder of Archdaily, Plataforma Arquitectura and Plataforma Urbana
David Basulto is a graduate architect from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2006). Founder and Editor in Chief of ArchDaily, and its global sites in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese. ArchDaily’s mission is “to improve the quality of life of the 3 billion people who live in cities in the next 40 years, by providing inspiration, knowledge, and tools to the architects who fill face this challenge.” He has served as jury for several award, prizes and design competitions in Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia.
Elena Manferdini – Graduate Programs Chair at the Southern California Institute of Architecture
Director and owner of Atelier Manferdini, she has over fifteen years of professional experience in architecture, art, design, and education. She is a licensed engineer in Italy, and a licensed architect in Switzerland.
Elena currently teaches at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) and is the Graduate Programs Chair. In 2014 she held the Howard Friedman Visiting Professor of Practice at the University of California Berkeley (UCB). She has also held Visiting Professor positions at Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania and Seika University.
Carla Baratelli – Architect and Designer, founder of STUDIO ASIA
She wrote on prestigious magazines such as “Design” and “Luce”, and was member of AIDI (Italian lighting association). From 2006 to 2011, she worked as creative and art director for the Luxury&Yachts fair, managed by Luciano Coin. In 2008 the new format of SPA “Salus Per Aquam”, conceived by Carla, appeared for the first time in Milan in the Wellness World, a travelling exhibition, international reference for the SPA world. In 2009 she opened the Office in Malabo, Africa and recently opened her own studio in Miami, thanks to the important work she is doing in the States and South America.
Antonio Asquino – Managing Director of GPA Partners and Co-Founder of GPA
Antonio has worked for major fashion and technology top brands as Client Rep, Program Manager and Project Manager in Europe and North America.
Between 2014 and 2018 he was President of GPA Partners Corporation the USA branch of GPA.
He has a Master in Civil Engineering (with Structural and MEP Engineering specialization).
