The UVA is urban transformations in neighborhoods oriented to the citizen encounter, the promotion of sports, recreation, culture and community participation.The UVA of San Javier is a public sports facility located in the 13th Comuna of Medellín created to complement the growing urban development of the sector, through 141.957 Sq. Ft of public space articulated to the educational and services existing facilities of the neighborhood centrality.
This UVA is a building of 22.475 Sq. Ft. designed according to the vocations of the community, has an emphasis on social reconciliation and covered sports such as indoor soccer, basketball, housed ina poly-functional space on the second floor. This space was endowed with sound and scenography suitable to function as a theater to spread musical events that have a growing role in this commune.The first level of the building is open to the public to allow the direct relationship with the user, also uses the corridors as galleries and open showrooms. The interior modules are spaces designed for the practice of cultural and artistic activities.
The community participated actively in the building design contributing ideas through working tables with the architecture team. A result of this exercise was a façade of metal panels as a social canvas with words of reconciliation and hope carved with a laser as an expression of resilience and recovery before violent times in the history of the neighborhood.
